Walter Jones
On February 24th, 2010, brother Walter Jones went to the presence of the Lord. He was a man highly esteemed in this church and other churches in Costa Rica. Walter was a personal friend I spent many hours with, working together to help build this church. Walter had been in charge of the finances, the benevolence, and part of the leadership team of the church. He is survived by his wife Myrna who continues to help with the ladies. I just can’t find the words to express how important was Walter in this mission, especially through his friendship with me. The Lord used him in ways that he himself didn’t realize, because he was someone I leaned on for support during times of sorrow. I would pray for him and he would pray for me. He believed in me, in my commitment. He never spared a word of praise and support for me. This helped me believe in myself and be more effective. I made sure I told him these things before he departed. I had to, because the fact that he didn’t speak Spanish used to make him feel that he was not really useful. Actually, he was one of the most useful members of this church. Many people stayed faithful because of the love he showed to them in spite of the language barriers. Many people who speak English were encouraged by him personally. He is no longer in the body; he is with Christ (Philippians 1.23, 24).
