On Being a Christian in the Post-Modern Era

What does it mean to be a Christian in this era? Does it make sense to follow a teacher who walked on this earth two thousand years ago? Why would someone do that? These are the questions that may be raised in some people's minds when reading a blog like this. Moreover, why do we bother about inviting others to participate in our Bible Studies? Why do we encourage others to become followers of Jesus? Isn't the world divided enough? And here we are coming up with this idea of inviting people to come to Jesus.

We do it because Jesus is real to us. We believe in His message recorded on the pages of the New Testament. Once you begin to read it as an independent thinker, it is very difficult not to feel attracted. I must stress, as an independent thinker. If you are a religious person, chances are that your reading of the Bible may be influenced by the tenets of your denomination. If you are not religious, you may not be as prejudiced. If you are anti-religion, there are surely prejudices you must deal with.

I pray that, after reading this, you will give a thought to the idea of finding more about the carpenter of Nazareth. What is it about him that changes lives? What did he have going on for him that made him so full of character, determination, strength, and other magnificent qualities not found in the greatest men of history?
