He who is not happy without… will not be happy with…

Isn't it true? You need to learn to be happy without what you want, to be able to be happy when you get it. Don't fall in the trap of thinking that you will be happy when you finally see fulfilled your dreams.

I am 63 in the year 2018. A few years into life have taught me a great lesson on happiness. And I have learned it. I finally learned that I can be happy right now. I don't have to see my greatest dream fulfilled to be able to be happy. My greatest dream pales in comparison with what I already have. My greatest problem has been solved. The greatest treasures have already been granted to me. My greatest fears have been done with. I am ready to live this life because I am already prepared to lose it, in fact, I already gave it up for the greatest cause in history, on earth, in the universe. This prepares me for life, and for death, at the same time.

I usually discuss these ideas with my students at Universidad Nacional de Costa Rica. They love it when ideas like these are explained to them. I usually explain that it is a process of growth. You grow, you learn, you mature. This growth is the result of faith in the Creator. I have come to understand that there is purpose in life, that there is meaning.

The meaning of life is given by the Creator of life. The Creator of life is too great to be understood completely. There are many things I don't know about Him. There is a lot of mystery, many questions go unanswered, but one thing I am sure of: This life is not about me, it is about Him.

Also, there is revelation. What I need to know has been revealed. The greatest testimony of revelation of The Creator to the creature is collected in what we know as the Holy Scriptures. The compilers of this great book did not make a mistake. Each one of the documents is necessary for us to understand the nature of the relationship between Creator and creature. They tell everything we need to know about Him, and everything we need to know about us.
